Total approximate duration: 60 min / Concert without intermission

In this concert by the Gulbenkian Choir, conductor Martina Batič leads a selection of works by North American composers. The programme ranges from the music Leonard Bernstein composed for the play The Lark – bringing the trial and execution of Joan of Arc to the stage – to works by William Schuman and Randall Thompson inspired by the poetry of Walt Whitman, passing through the Negro spiritual My Lord, What a Morning and the Bahamian spiritual All My Trials, arranged by Harry Thacker Burleigh and Norman Luboff.
