After Umbra and Penumbra comes Antumbra. This is the title of the new project uniting Elias Stemeseder and Christian Lillinger in an electroacoustic duo dedicated to exploring the porous borderlands of contemporary music, juxtaposing elements of written music, free improvisation, avant-garde jazz, traditional music and experimental electronica.

Armed with samples, percussive and electronic instruments, and all kinds of sound manipulation tools, they say they are inspired by the expression “antumbra” (an astronomical term referring to the shadow region of a celestial body when the light source is partially ofuscated), and create a soundscape in constant dialogue with utopian and dystopian scenarios. Restless, disconcerting music of a magnetic strangeness.
