Antonín Dvořák

Symphony No. 6 in D major, op. 60
Total approximate duration: 120 min

Of a recent performance of Sergei Rachmaninov’s music, The Times awarded Alexander Gavrylyuk the highest rating and wrote that ‘technique is one thing, good taste another’, also praising ‘the transitions between joy and sadness’, as well as ‘the revealing clarity and serenity’. At Gulbenkian Music, the pianist will perform the Russian composer’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini in a programme that also includes Iceberg Symphony, a major work by Lithuanian composer Raminta Šerkšnytė, and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6, under the direction of conductor Izabelė Jankauskaitė, one of the most promising conductors of her generation.
