Arthur Honegger
La danse des morts

Following the astounding success of their collaboration in Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher, writer Paul Claudel and composer Arthur Honegger resumed it for La danse des morts. While Jeanne d’Arc was performed publicly, Claudel discovered a series of magnificent illustrations on death in the Musée de Bâle, and was particularly impressed by the work of Hans Holbein. This gave rise to the great dramatic cantata created with Honegger, a composer partial to the work of J. S. Bach like conductor Michel Corboz, with whom he comes together in this programme devised to celebrate All Saints Day.
