Robert Schumann

Cello Concerto in A minor, op. 129
— Intermission of 20 min —

Anton Bruckner

Symphony No. 9 in D minor
Total approximate duration: 120 min

Having performed with conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen, Gustavo Dudamel and Simon Rattle, Truls Mørk is regarded as one of today’s most inspired cellists. Among the repertoire to which he has devoted himself, Schumann’s Cello Concerto holds a special place, a work to which he has repeatedly returned throughout his career. Of one such performance, the Financial Times wrote that ‘Mørk’s absorbing dedication transformed the work into a meditation by turns serene and dramatic, a rêverie whose changing moods held together’. This programme, conducted by Hannu Lintu, also includes Bruckner’s final symphony.
