For a period of four years, the Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes wanted to dedicate himself to the work of a single composer, performing pieces by Beethoven exclusively. The choice, he told the BBC, was based on the conviction that he had felt this music growing inside him since he discovered it as a child. During his student years, “the revolutionary character of this music” continued to captivate him. Later, it was the human side and the search for “answers to the big questions” that he found in the German composer. Under the direction of Hannu Lintu, he will perform Beethoven’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 3 at Gulbenkian Music.
