Beatrice Rana’s path crossed with the music of J. S. Bach from an early age. She first performed live at the age of nine, playing the Concerto in F minor. A year later, she heard Glenn Gould’s recording of the Goldberg Variations and realised that the limits of her expressiveness were far greater than she had imagined, eventually recording the Variations herself at the same age as Gould, to great acclaim from Gramophone magazine. Since then, she has built a reputation for brilliance, leading The New York Times to describe her as ‘one of the most probing and prodigiously gifted artists of the new generation’.
