With an important background as Assistant Conductor to Vassily Petrenko and Christian Lindberg at the Royal Liverpool Philarmonic Chamber Orchestra and to Joana Carneiro at the Gulbenkian Workshop for Orchestra (EGO), Jan Wierzba is regarded as one of Portugal’s emerging musical talents. Born in Poland, but raised and trained in Portugal, he conducted the EGO orchestra in the Grand Auditorium in September 2014, with a programme that included pieces by Tchaikovsky and Dvorák. Jan Wierzba is joined here by the young Portuguese soprano Bárbara Barradas.
