Joana Gama and Luís Fernandes

In Gulbenkian Music 2017/18, pianist Joana Gama starred in one of the musical events of the year. For more than 14 hours, she played Erik Satie’s demanding Vexations. This time, she plays another reference work from the piano repertoire: Música Callada, by the Catalan composer Federico Mompou. Later that same day, the regular partnership between Joana Gama and Luís Fernandes will present a project that combines piano and electronics. In 2017, at the invitation of Westway LAB Festival, the duo debuted at the still point of the turning world. Here “music travels in a wide space, travelling routes in permanent collision. There is no perceived conflict in this collision, but an explosion of sounds that illuminate a space that begins dark”.
