Sufi music from Pakistan

Qawwali is a form of Sufi devotional music going back at least seven centuries, usually presented in Sufi temples and in religious festivals in Pakistan and India that seeks to establish a spiritual connection with the audience. Asif Ali Khan, a disciple of the most outstanding of qawwali singers, Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn, performs on stage with eight musicians seated on a Persian carpet, who produce a feverish, passionate musical trance.
