Land of Gold

In this concert, Anoushka Shankar will perform works from her recent album Land of Gold, album that she launched this April and inspired on images of the suffering of those fleeing civil war, oppression and poverty. With her spiritual sonority, Anoushka Shankar, a singular figure in Indian classical music, brings a message of hope in times of darkness: “Everybody is engaged in some way in a search for their Land of Gold: a place of security, connectivity and tranquillity, that they might call home”, said the composer and sitar player who has received five Grammy Award nominations, and returns to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to close this Jardim de Verão program.

With
Anoushka Shankar (sitar)
Manu Delago (hang and electric drums)
Sanjeev Shankar (shehnai)
Tom Farmer (contrabass and keyboards)
