Released in 2014, the album Eve, by singer Angélique Kidjo – a true living legend of African music – pays tribute to her mother but also to all women from her continent. Born in Benin and long acknowledged by the BBC, The Guardian and Forbes as one of the most inspiring and influential women in Africa, Kidjo wanted to celebrate her condition as a woman and the ability to resist pain and poverty after visiting small villages in Kenya, in an album that Uncut magazine qualified as “bold, visionary and, in places, spine-tingling”.
