Alim Qasimov, the undisputed master of Azerbaijani song, has long been expanding beyond the narrow circuit of world music, having shared the stage with the legendary pop/rock artist Jeff Buckley, participated in the Kronos Quartet’s Floodplain album and been appointed by Björk as her «current favourite singer».
