Since winning FAZ – Ideas of Portuguese Origin, a Gulbenkian Foundation competition, in 2013, the XXI Orchestra has been a regular fixture in the Gulbenkian Music seasons. This time, marking the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, the orchestra presents a concert with a staged version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, by Felix Mendelssohn, narrated by the actor Ricardo Pereira. In the first part of the concert, the ballet suite, Pulcinella, is preceded by a piece by Andreia Pinto Correia, a composer who has had a successful career in the United States.
