The fourth in a series of compositions by Victor Gama, which began in 2006 with the Cunene River, a work he created for the Kronos Quartet and premiered at Carnegie Hall. It was followed by 3milRIOS and then Cubango River and Vela 6911, performed at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 2013. Composed for orchestral instruments and others invented by the composer himself, as well as voice, 3milRIOS is an ambitious multimedia opera that uses photography, video, field recordings and interviews with cultural and environmental activists, reflecting on the environmental destruction in the forests and waters of the Amazon and in the Colombian Andes.
