Ciguatera – Toxic Blooms: a conversation between Diana Policarpo and Chus Martínez.
In the context of Diana Policarpo's exhibition ‘Ciguatera’, we organised a conversation between the curator Chus Martínez and the artist, centred on her research for this project.
In the audio recording of this conversation, which we are now sharing, the curator introduces us to the ‘ciguatera’, while drawing connections between this toxin and the natural elements and peoples affected by it.
Diana Policarpo tells us about the genesis of this work, which she traces back to a first image of the extreme landscape of the Selvagens Islands, and about her research into the violence and extractionist abuse suffered by this territory, as well as its geopolitical complexity over the centuries.
