‘Biting Dust’ among the best exhibitions of the year
Fernão Cruz. Biting Dust is among the ten best exhibitions of 2021, according to Celso Martins in the newspaper Expresso and to Luísa Soares de Oliveira in the newspaper Público. Curated by Leonor Nazaré, this solo exhibition of the works of Fernão Cruz opened on 24 September in the Gulbenkian Museum’s Temporary Exhibitions Gallery, bringing together a selection of 30 previously unseen works, which the artist created specifically for this project.
Within three months of its opening, the exhibition had already received 18 thousand visitors, as well as being the subject of several critical reviews and references in the press, notably in Expresso (five stars), Público-Ípsilon (five stars), Novo Semanário, Sábado magazine and Contemporânea, among others.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue, the first edition of which sold out in the first few weeks of the exhibition, with a second edition now available in the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation shops, which includes images of all the works on display, an essay by the curator and an interview with the artist. As a result of the exhibition, six pieces have been acquired by the CAM, the first of Fernão Cruz’s works to be included in the Collection.
With free entry, Fernão Cruz. Morder o Pó is open to visitors until 17 January 2022.
