Engawa Space Centro de Arte Moderna GulbenkianIn ‘Each Poem, a Feeling Gesture’, André Tecedeiro does not seek to illustrate the works on display. Instead, the poems work their way into the gaps, creating a moment of resonance between word and matter.
Tecedeiro presents a poetics of the infinitesimal, of interior worlds, the transitory, of intimacy and resistance. His poetry, often written on ‘bus tickets or flimsy napkins,’ carries a fragile and intimate urgency that is formalised in refined, precise poems that are simple only in appearance.
As in Francisco Trêpa’s works, Tecedeiro’s poems are often based on nature as an allegorical field. Here, roots, volcanoes, river networks and tree suckers are aspects of a body in search of itself.
