Exhibition “Your eyes in your pocket”
The exhibition that the Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar opened on 31 March, entitled Your eyes in your pocket. Inland journal: one exhibition, 35 issues, displays, among the works exhibited, 5 reports from the Gulbenkian Archives.
These are the reports that Júlio Pomar sent to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation between October 1964 and October 1966, as part of the grant that he was awarded by the Fine Arts Department for a painting internship in Paris in 1964.
The exhibition – which may be visited until 18 June – is curated by the artists Eduardo Matos and André Cepeda, in collaboration with the Inland journal, and is part of the programme that the Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar has been presenting, on the intersections of Júlio Pomar’s work with that of other artists.
In this case, the highlight goes to “the multiple connections between art and the written word and between contemporaneity and Júlio Pomar’s artistic and literary production.” The 34 issues of the Inland journal already published will be shown and the 35th issue, which contains an unpublished text by Júlio Pomar, will be released.
