The exhibition, curated by Miguel Von Hafe Perez, aims to investigate the tensions, contradictions and paradoxical movements that mark the periods immediately before and after the Revolution, in a time span between 1970 and 1977, and to record how the universe of the visual arts reflected the whirlwind of experiences and feelings that contributed to the revolutionary process.
From the same set of artist’s books by Lourdes Castro, the work Quinta do Monte: observações quotidianas quando calhar, a Japanese notebook, can be seen in the group exhibition Hoje Soube-me a Pouco, which will be open to the public at MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology between April 23 and August 6, 2024.
The show is curated by João Pinharanda and Sérgio Mah and brings together a group of artists and works that marked the period after the Revolution.
The Casa das Histórias Paula Rego/Fundação D. Luís will present the exhibition Paula Rego: Manifesto between April 24 and October 6, 2024, for which the Art Library will lend 4 documents belonging to the Diogo Macedo collection: an invitation to the “Paula Rego Exhibition” at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes in 1965 and 3 newspaper clippings, two about the artist and one with an excerpt from a poem by Pedro Sete for Paula Figueiroa Rego.

Curated by Catarina Alfaro and Leonor Oliveira, the exhibition aims to invoke the year 1965, which was marked by intensified political repression and violence and at the same time stood out for its attitude of resistance against the regime. At the same time, the exhibition explores Paula Rego’s attentive and critical view of the country’s political and social situation in the post-revolutionary period.
The Soares dos Reis National Museum is organizing an exhibition commemorating the activity of the Contemporary Art Centre, CAC 50 anos – A democratização vivida, which will run from June 6 to the end of December 2024, and for which it has asked Art Library to loan two catalogs by Carlos Carreiro and Nadir Afonso, respectively, in fold-out format, published on the occasion of two exhibitions at the Centre.
The exhibition, curated by Miguel Von Hafe Pérez, aims to put the artistic work into dialog with documentary sources such as exhibition catalogs, posters, invitations, and photographic records.
