Catarina Leitão in the Art Library collection
Visual artist and teacher, Catarina Leitão (1970) was born in Stuttgart, Germany.
She took a degree in Painting at the Faculdade de Belas Artes in Lisbon (1993) and a master’s in fine arts at Hunter College in New York (2000).
She was a grantee of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Luso-American Foundation between 1997 and 1999; of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation between 2001 and 2002.
Catarina Leitão has exhibited regularly since 1989, in Portugal and abroad. Her work is represented in the collection of the Centro de Arte Moderna of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Since 2010 she has been teaching at the Escola Superior de Artes e Design in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal.
