Selection of Artist Books

Books by Portuguese artists, from the Collection of the Art Library, can be seen at Casa da Cerca, Almada, between April and May 2023.

The Reading Room of the Documentation and Research Centre Mestre Rogério Ribeiro at Casa da Cerca – Contemporary Art Centre presents, between April 1st and September 10th, a set of books that belong to the Art Library’s collection of artist’s books and independent edition. Part of the programme celebrating Casa da Cerca’s 30th anniversary – which also includes the exhibitions Some drawing from Gaëtan. Works from the Albert Caetano collection and Maria José Oliveira. The container body -, the exhibition The necessity of looking will have three distinct moments: from 1 April to 28 May; 30 May to 23 July and, finally, from 25 July to 10 September.

For the first exhibition, which will be held between 1 April and 28 May, a set of books, multiple, of various formats and sizes, by Portuguese artists of different generations, has been selected: Alberto Carneiro, Alice Geirinhas, Catarina Dias, Carlos Correia, Diniz Conefrey, João Fonte Santa, Julião Sarmento, Lúcia Prancha, Mauro Cerqueira, Patrícia Almeida e Ricardo Valentim.
