28 drawings by Álvaro Siza Vieira on display in Madrid
The exhibition show is part of the 22nd International Architecture Week, which runs until 13 October with Portugal as the guest country. It highlights Siza Vieira’s career, focusing on the central role of drawing in the conception of his projects.
Curated by Carlos Quintáns, the Madrid exhibition presents a selection of works first shown last year at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
On display are sketches, original drawings, architectural plans, design objects and photographs from a range of collections. From the holdings of the Art Library, 22 original drawings and six digital copies are featured, relating to eight architectural projects:

In addition to these documents, the exhibition presents 57 facsimiles of the architect’s drawings from the Art Library, which will be made available for viewing and consultation.
