Tiling designs

Graphic documentation collected and produced by Emílio Guerra de Oliveira from 1958 onwards and throughout his collaboration with Santos Simões.

This set of documents includes all the graphic production, mostly handwritten and typed, as well as the records of the tiles inventory and the press clippings. The set contains drawings, many of them watercoloured, of various sizes.

The drawings, by Emílio Guerra de Oliveira, were executed for the illustrations of the books Azulejaria em Portugal nos séculos XV e XVI, Azulejaria em Portugal no século XVII, Azulejaria em Portugal no século XVIII, Azulejaria portuguesa no Brasil (1500-1822) and Azulejaria portuguesa nos Açores e na Madeira.

For 21 years, Emílio Guerra de Oliveira has collected and produced 792 documents as a result of his illustration work for the editions of the Corpus da Azulejaria Portuguesa and his illustration activity within the Brigada de Estudos da Azulejaria.
