Cultural Institutions in Transition: book exhibition
The Art Library is joining the programme Cultural Institutions in Transition, presented by CAM – Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian, by proposing a selection of titles from its collection.
Based on the question “If we recognize that most cultural institutions today are based on hegemonic traditions and perpetuate operating structures that are not very agile in the face of the transformations of the contemporary world, what models can we imagine/create?”, set out in the introductory text of the Cultural Institutions in Transition programme, this book exhibition is intended as an invitation to discuss and critically reflect on themes that analyze and question the transformations of the arts and artistic institutions in the contemporary world.
These titles were selected in collaboration with the curators of the Changing Cultural Institutions programme: Luísa Santos (professor and researcher at the Faculty of Human Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University), Sofia Vitorino (researcher at the Institute of Contemporary History of FCSH/NOVA) and Rita Fabiana (curator at CAM – Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian).
