Gulbenkian Mobile Libraries Network (1958 – 2002)
Timeline of the creation of the mobile libraries of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s network. This unparalleled programme towards the promotion of reading among the Portuguese population with less access to education and culture, was operated throughout the country between 1958 and 2002.
This work provides a quick presentation of each mobile library and showcases the diversity of documentation on this programme in the Gulbenkian Archives.
Designed as an open log, this timeline, which initially only shows the dates of creation and extinction of each library, will incorporate new data and documents as they become available.
