Come and discover the Christmases of the World with the Gulbenkian Orchestra and Choir and be an active participant! We will start in Portugal, with some of the better known traditional songs, visit our European neighbours (Spain, France and England) and then travel, like in the time of the Discoveries, to faraway lands: Central and South America (Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Peru, Venezuela and Brazil), North America and the Jewish world with its Hanukkah (the Festival of Lights). The orchestral versions will also be varied, from the intimacy of the European adoration songs of Christmas night to the frantic rhythm of South American songs and the brightness of great North American suites, including A Christmas Overture by John Rutter and three songs by John Williams from the film Home Alone.
