Songs From The Pearl of Khorasan

Nasim Khushnawaz inherited from his father, Ustad Rahim Khushnawaz, the tradition of the rubab, an Afghan folk instrument similar to the lute. Exiled in Iran, Khushnawaz has developed a connection to the secular techniques and repertoires of Afghanistan, khorasani and herati, explored in a moving and exemplary way on the album Songs from the Pearl of Khorasan. It is this unique universe, involving the audience in a beautiful collective trance, that he brings to Gulbenkian Música, supported by a series of themes of high emotional charge and with an unusual capacity to surprise. For Khushnawaz, music is like a homecoming.
