Lorraine Daston

Advisory Board

Lorraine Daston is Director Emerita at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin, and Permanent Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. She is also regular Visiting Professor at the University of Chicago. She holds a PhD in the History of Science from Harvard University, and an AB in History and Science, also from Harvard. 

She was the recipient of many awards and fellowships, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and, most recently the Balzan Prize.  Among her many books are Classical Probability in the Enlightenment, Objectivity (co-authored with Peter Galison) and Rules: A Short History of What We Live By
