João de Almeida Pedro has been with the Gulbenkian Foundation since 2013 and is also deputy director of the Education and Science Department. Before that, he coordinated scientific operations at the former Gulbenkian Institute of Science and managed development projects in education, science, and health.

He has extensive teaching experience in pharmacy, and in technical assistance in developing countries. João holds a PhD in Public Health, a master’s degree in education, and a BA in Pharmacy. He has contributed to numerous research projects and publications, particularly on Angola’s cardiovascular risk factors, and global public health.
