Yesterday I Saw the Future

‘Yesterday I Saw the Future’ brings together the 48 drawings by António Jorge Gonçalves created for the hoardings that accompanied the renovation works at the CAM and the Gulbenkian Garden, in a sequence dedicated to visions of the future.

An award-winning graphic novelist and illustrator, António Jorge Gonçalves developed this project around the theme of the future, exploring its possible manifestations in politics, the environment, science and social organisation.

The 48 drawings that make up Yesterday I Saw the Future explore different scales and registers, ranging between the figurative and the abstract. The body of work brings together a variety of images, including urban landscapes, ruins, violence, viruses, debris and fragments.

This book follows Locus of Flight, a publication that brought together the first phase of the project developed by the author for the CAM hoardings. The publication is available in two editions with different covers, while retaining the same content in both versions.
