On Mother's Day, Círculo Poémia presents an event that transcends the traditional idea of parenthood, approaching it in an inclusive, sensitive and poetic way.

‘A Flight of Poetry and Conversation on Parenthood’ calls for a collective reflection on the act of creating and caring in black communities, where experiences of affection, resistance and care are lived out in a unique way.

This workshop opens up a space to question what it means to be a mother, father or carer in the diaspora, exploring the different forms of expression, identity and legacy that make up the world of parenthood.

Through poetry, past and present experiences are connected, challenging dominant narratives and creating new ways of imagining the future. More than just an exchange of words, this meeting aims to be a celebration of parenthood in its many forms – without rigid gender boundaries, but with a focus on the dynamics of resistance, care and love.

The aim is to create an environment based on listening, where participants can redefine what it means to care in the present and design a more inclusive and empowered future.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation reserves the right to collect and keep records of images, sounds and voice for the diffusion and preservation of the memory of its cultural and artistic activity. For further information, please contact us through the Information Request form.
