War-Head
Artist's statement:
I cannot say very much about the sculpture War-head. It was one of those sculptures that almost make themselves. The filing cabinet had been in the studio for some time, just lying on its side, when one day as I walked past it I pulled out two of its four draws. They looked just like the legs on a torso. The other two draws quickly became the arms. When I then started to think about what to do for the head the word war-head kept repeating itself in my head. This resulted in the nuclear bomber/ head being made from a metal cash box that ended up being carried by the figure. This gave it a strident, official, bureaucratic sensibility.
