This is one of the photographs made by Fernando Lemos during one of his visits to António Pedro, who lived in Moledo do Minho. In this image we can see elements linked to the harvest of sargasso (seaweed). But instead of simply representing this traditional activity, Lemos chose to focus on the dialogue between the two planes that compose the image. In the first plane, the suspended nets becomes a sculptural, almost anthropomorphic form, like a body settling in the sand and raising his arms, holding the net with the bits of drying seaweed. These structures also function to direct the eye to the second plane, in which the sea and the labouring women complete the reading of the image.
