The title Coincidência [Coincidence] relates not so much to the unusual presence of a worker at the top of a ladder seen through a window as to a call for attention to identify the similarity between the spaces of the horizontally divided windows and the equivalence of those spaces provided by the steps of the ladder.

It is the graphic gaze of the artist Fernando Lemos that, when comparing the two windows, gives us an account of his observation, depriving the ‘ladder’ object of its function in favour of its form.

It is this significant content that allows the title Coincidência to broaden the meaning of the image and give it various possible readings, moving from the simple representation of the photographed objects to the polysemy of the photographic image.
