Text

This bronze and volcanic stone sculpture reflects on memory and the passage of time. A fragment of an ancient relic is buried within the stone, immortalizing the shared history between humans and Nature. In her work, Menéres explores the interconnected relationship between women’s bodies, sexuality, and nature. The emerging shoulder, faceless and anonymous, implies an effort to recover history’s lost and silenced narratives. The title, evoking purity and fragility, suggests  a longing to uncover something unspoiled, and to preserve memories of an eroded past.
