Over two years, 52 young people from Artallis – Conservatório d'Artes de Loures – collaborated with Mikhail Karikis, musicians, composers, a sociologist, a musicologist, and the Gulbenkian Orchestra, creating a performance in which the body, voice, and listening became vehicles for political and artistic expression.

The experience was more than just a creative exercise – it was a transformative journey. The young participants shared their stories, rehearsed with professionals, learned to claim space, to fight through art, and to transform the stage into a place of belonging. ‘We are together because we want to create something greater,’ they affirm.

At the intersection of education, art, and citizenship, ‘ Sounds of a Revolution ’ became a living celebration of the 25th of April – not only as a memory, but as a force in motion. An emotional and collective legacy that changed institutions, people, and perspectives. And it showed that together, we can reimagine the future with hope – and with sound.

In September 2024, the project culminated in a performance at the Grand Auditorium of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation with the Gulbenkian Orchestra. Launched in 2025 at CAM, the video installation ‘ We are together because… ’ is the result of this deeply collaborative process between Karikis and the young people from Artallis.
