Masayume over the skies of Lisbon
A huge hot air balloon flew over the skies of Lisbon, kicking off CAM's 40th anniversary celebrations
Masayume is the Japanese word for “dream that comes true.” And it was indeed a dream that gave birth to this monumental installation taking over the skies of Lisbon at a height of almost 24 metres.
Developed by the award-winning collective 目[mé] – consisting of Haruka Kojin, Kenji Minamigawa, and Hirofumi Masui – this dream come true was thus shown for the first time outside Japan, challenging city dwellers who had the opportunity to see it with the unexpected.
This project marked the beginning of the Season of Contemporary Art from Japan – Engawa, which crosses various artistic practices and disciplines and will celebrate CAM’s 40th anniversary over the coming months.
