Locus of flight

As part of the CAM in Motion programme, illustrator and comic strip author António Jorge Gonçalves was invited to develop a project for the hoardings surrounding the renovation work of the CAM building at Rua Nicolau Bettencourt.

The graphic narrative that resulted from this invitation, entitled Locus of flight and installed on the site since November 2021, gave rise to a book that tells the story of the place where the Gulbenkian Foundation is today through the eyes of a mallard duck, a very common species in the Gulbenkian Garden.

With 23 original drawings by António Jorge Gonçalves, the book takes us from a farm that supplied the city in the 18th century to the Gulbenkian Foundation today, passing through a velodrome, a zoological garden, a popular fair, among other situations.

António Jorge Gonçalves is also the author of the siding that now surrounds the building on Rua Marquês Sá da Bandeira, for which he developed a new original project, entitled Yesterday I saw the future.
