Open Call – Let’s create an exhibition with the CAM Collection?
We invite School Groups and non-group schools from the PNA Schools network to take part in a participatory curating project
In 2026, in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and in partnership with Plano Nacional das Artes (PNA), CAM is opening up its Collection to a participatory curatorial process with schools and cultural institutions in mainland Portugal.
As well as sharing knowledge of CAM and its Collection, making it more accessible to its publics, this participatory project will involve Secondary school classes (10th-year) from the PNA Schools network, in mainland Portugal but outside the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, in partnership with a local cultural institution.
The aim is for pupils to organise an exhibition and mediation activities at the partner cultural institution, with works from the CAM Collection.
The theme and model for this exhibition, the works and artists selected, as well as the mediation activities and related communication, will be decided by the pupils and teachers themselves (subject to the conditions of the host cultural institutions) and the entire process will be overseen by the various CAM and PNA teams. As part of the programme, the pupils will visit the CAM Storage facilities, where works are stored while not on display.
The project will last from February to December 2026, with the design and development of the curatorship taking place between February and June, and the opening and activation of the exhibitions scheduled for October to December.
Applications have been extended until 23:59 on 20 January 2026, and the results will be announced on 26 January 2026.
