Partnership between CAM and MAC/CCB in the exhibition season of both institutions
The exhibition ‘British Art – Convergence’ features 44 works from the Berardo Collection on deposit at the MAC/CCB, while the exhibition ‘An Atlantic Drift’, on show at that museum, includes 18 loans from the CAM Collection.
Curated by Nuria Enguita and Marta Mestre, in collaboration with scientific advisor Mariana Pinto dos Santos ‘An Atlantic Drift’ explores 20th century art from 1909 to 1977, showing links and clashes between the European and American shores to indicate possible relationships and drifts that are often overlooked or absent from art history. CAM’s loans for this show include artists such as Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, Lourdes Castro, Sonia Delaunay and José de Almada Negreiros.
Meanwhile, ‘British Art – Convergence,’ curated by Ana Vasconcelos and Rita Lougares, and exhibited in the Gulbenkian Foundation’s Main Gallery, creates an unprecedented encounter between the CAM Collection and the Berardo Collection, bringing together more than 100 works by 74 artists who were born in or relocated to the United Kingdom throughout the 20th century. Among the loans are works by artists such as Francis Bacon, Jann Haworth, Richard Hamilton, Grace Pailthorpe and Eduardo Paolozzi. The exhibition can be visited until 21 July.
