Open Call for an artist residency for the ‘Affective Ecologies’ project
The Affective Ecologies project proposes a group of artists to develop exchanges for a fortnight, in an intensive residency format at Hangar – Centre for Artistic Research’s space in Lisbon. Applications are open to artists in the field of Visual Arts, residents and nationals of Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe, aged between 25 and 35 years.
The residency programme is based on a collaborative model geared towards action and reflection on creative and artistic processes, seeking to boost the international projection of the selected artists. It will be supported by a team of curators and artists, and will include a range of creative and training activities such as studio work, workshops, and visits to museums, art centres, galleries and artists’ studios.
The programme will culminate with a public session around the artist residency with the presentation of the works produced during the residency and a public talk at CAM’s new building.
In the year that marks the 50th anniversary of the 25 April Revolution and Portuguese democracy, Affective Ecologies recalls the contributions of Amílcar Cabral and his unique voice to anti-colonial revolutions, African cultural affirmations, national liberation and resistance, inviting reflection on the importance of art and culture for development, in a sustainable and community-based approach.
