The session opens with a guided tour of Bruno Zhu’s Belas Artes, an exhibition in which the artist reflects on power discourses related to museum practice, raising questions related to artistic labour, ownership and control within cultural production.
In Mbombo: Dream Echoes, Sondi (1994), a German artist born in Cameroon, leads participants through her video‑installation, which unfolds across a dreamlike landscape shaped by fragments of memory, ancestral knowledge, and speculation. As we move through the game – which explores the power of rest and dreams as forms of resistance – the artist discusses the strategies of survival and fugitivity that underpin its worldbuilding, while also reflecting on how video‑game practices can become spaces of resistance and communal care.
This is followed by a talk with multidisciplinary artist Onome Ekeh, whose practice spans film, theatre, literature, video, and radio. Through the lens of the 2003 animated film Finding Nemo, the talk proposes three axes of practice: network‑plugging, narrative‑alchemy, and node‑transformation.
The conversations with Sondi and Onome Ekeh offer distinct perspectives on artistic practice, speculative thinking, and the ways in which creative work can open new possibilities for understanding and shaping our collective futures. Participants will be invited to reflect on these ideas, considering how narratives, materials, and forms might extend beyond the present towards imagined realities.
Bringing together artist‑led dialogue and practical experimentation, this programme encourages participants to imagine futures otherwise. It is both a space for critical thought and creative action, blending theory and practice in a reflective way.
On June 25, the collective zine‑making workshop Imagining Other Futures II, led by Marion C. Bouvier, takes place.
Meeting point in CAM Foyer.

Through speculative practices and critical play, she imagines virtual worlds as spaces for healing, resistance, and collective dreaming.
