carne.exe, by Carincur and João Pedro Fonseca

Event Slider

In partnership with the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, ‘carne.exe’ explores the boundaries between body and machine, consciousness and code, to produce a techno-poetics that questions what it means to be human in the post-digital era.

In this new creation, a human performer interacts with an original artificial intelligence model with performance abilities – AROA (Artificial Relational Ontological Agent) – trained on poetic and philosophical material.

Through real and improvised dialogues, the actor Albano Jerónimo and AROA will think about touch, consciousness and the future of coexistence between species. Without giving into techno-pessimism, the work asserts the body as a place of transformation and promotes the strengthening of interspecies dialogue as a possibility for the future, where data and flesh, algorithms and affections can share a hybrid space that is sensitive, political and artistic.

In an encounter between art, technology and philosophy, an expanded stage integrates advanced technology, proposing a new grammar for contemporary theatre, revitalising it as a space of experimentation between languages, temporalities and different intelligences.

4 seats for people with reduced mobility are available. They must be purchased in person, at our ticket office, or by phone call.
