ARUS FEMIA, by Zia Soares

Event Slider

‘ARUS FEMIA’, which translates from Guinean Creole as ‘female rice’, is inspired by the Guinean women whose hair is taken as a storehouse of ancestral wisdom: human, botanical and spiritual.

In the New World, the women shook their heads and, from their hair, the seeds that fertilised the earth were released.

Director and actress Zia Soares, artistic director of Teatro GRIOT, presents a spectacle or sorcery fulfilled in solemnity, where dystopian scenarios are obsolete mirages.

‘ARUS FEMIA’ is an unrelenting tactical diagram enacted by performers or ‘irans’ (spirits/divinities) or ‘kankurans’ (guardian spirits of initiation rituals) or ‘humanfibians’.

Duration: 90 min.
