Around the body, an object

With Gustavo Ciríaco and Vera Mantero

Event Slider

In the context of Gustavo Ciríaco's open residency, the choreographer talks to Vera Mantero about the permanent presence of objects in his work and life.

This conversation brings together choreographers Gustavo Ciríaco and Vera Mantero to discuss the presence of objects in their work and lives, and how these actively transform space, becoming one with the performers’ bodies. A conversation to reflect together on the implications of these presences in their choreographic practices.

The conversation takes place in the context of the ‘Caravanserá’ project that Gustavo Ciríaco is developing during his Open Residency at Engawa Space, where objects and sculpture are central presences, articulating visual arts and choreography. Here, sculpture is both a place of transmission, between his work and that of his mother, the Brazilian artist Maria José de Figueiredo Ciríaco (1939-2020), and a place of relationship with the world.

This talk will be held in Portuguese.

Duration: 120 min.
