One year after their explosive appearance at Jazz em Agosto, Mariam Rezaei returns to the festival with her creative ferocity, drawing highly experimental sounds from the turntable.
The quartet, which also features Mette Rasmussen, Gabriele Mitelli and Lukas König (on saxophone, piccolo trumpet and drums respectively), takes its name from a work by Goya and treats genre demolition as a daily practice. “By integrating noise, jazz, electronic music and pure madness,” the group’s presentation states, “this quartet does not sit passively waiting for something to happen.”
Instead, surrendering to febrile improvisation, the group (whose debut album appeared in 2025) creates music that, in the words of The Wire, results in a “superb, absorbing album – reflective and creative”.
