Sara Schoenbeck & Matt Mitchell

Event Slider

Sara Schoenbeck is a very special case. Having chosen the bassoon as an instrument, she refused the ineluctability of developing her career in an orchestra or playing chamber music and reimagined her sound as a member of Anthony Braxton’s Tri-Centric Orchestra, while also joining hip-hop, rock, electronica and classical Indian musical projects. In the world of jazz, besides Braxton she has performed with Wayne Horvitz, Wadada Leo Smith, Roscoe Mitchell, Taylor Ho Bynum and Matt Mitchell, a pianist with whom she will now perform as a duo in another test of the limits of the bassoon in a context of music compromised by the most absolute freedom.
