Julia Reidy Electric guitar, Electronics

Duration 50 minutes

In an involving combination of 12-string acoustic guitar, electronics and ethereal voice, Julia Reidy has become a big name on the current music scene. Having left Australia and settled in Berlin, Reidy has created a very personal language through enchanting music that seems to work in waves, exhibiting echoes of John Fahey’s American primitive guitar and emanating abstract textures. In Reidy’s hands, the guitar is a source of beautiful strumming that threatens to go on forever, transformed by sounds that reinforce the state of consoling semi-consciousness in which everything occurs. The comparisons with Julia Holter and Grouper underline how much Reidy has invented a unique space for the guitar – given an electric twist in the album World in World.
