Oak galls can be used to produce ink! We will learn to make ink from oak galls from the Garden and then draw what we like best in this space.
Venture back in time with us as we make our own writing ink, as our ancestors did for nearly 2500 years, using a technique employed by Leonardo da Vinci himself. Oaks are common trees in Portugal. Their fruit is the acorn, but most of us will have noticed some small brown spheres on deciduous oaks. These are oak galls and they are the tree’s defence against insect bites.
